Connecting Existing Models

You have a conceptual model and a database schema that have content that is not connected yet.

Prerequisites

You have started the Mapping editor with a mapping between the database schema and the conceptual model. An engineering action with the Interconnect tag is defined.

You have selected elements and the target model is set.

Context

You want to create automatic connection between both existing models.

Note:

You can manually create connections between single model elements in the Dependencies tool window and in the Dependency Editor.

How to proceed

  1. Select Mapping>Map Model>Interconnect.

You can see the connection that was created on the right-hand side of the mapping area. The model elements are shown in the model structure.

The newly-connected model elements are shown in Orange.

    Note:

No changes are made to the model elements. Only the connections are created.

  2. Select Mapping>Filter>Show all.

The unmodified model elements are shown in Black.
