Creating a Model

You can create a model in an available repository (with the help of a wizard in the Enterprise edition) or as a local model. You need model templates in both cases.

Corporate or Local Models

Models can be created and used in two basic forms.

Models are usually used in an administrated repository for the productive Innovator application in companies.

You can use local models for modeling in the "sand box".

Creating Models in the Private Cloud

Prerequisites

You need to be connected to a repository server1You can find information about the repository server in the administration manual. to be able to create a model in the private cloud.

Context

You can create a new model (using a wizard in the Enterprise edition) in the Model>New backstage view.

How to proceed

  1. Jump to the Model>New backstage view.
  2. Click on In the Private Cloud (Network of your Organization).
  3. Click on Active repositories on '<license server>' to refresh the view of available repositories.
  4. Select an available repository from the Available Repositories for Models in the Private Cloud list.
  5. If required, enter the required password for the repository administrator.
  6. Click on Model Wizard.

    The New Model Wizard appears and takes you through the procedure.

Creating Local Models

Context

You primarily use a local model as a "sandbox" for modeling separately.

How to proceed

  1. Jump to the Model>New backstage view.
  2. Click on local on Local on this Computer.
  3. Select a model template from the Available Templates for Local Models list.

    The name of the model template and a brief description appear on the right-hand side.

    The Create button is activated.

  4. Click on Create.

    A new model is created. This may take some time. Please wait..

    The Switch Role dialog appears.

  5. Select a user role you are able to use and click on OK to continue working in this role.
  6. Select Model>Save to save the model as a suitabl name.

    The model is saved. Please wait.

    The new model's start page appears.
