There are various factors which depend on how best to access the help: availability of an internet connection, storage space and your personal preference as to how to help is shown.
The following support is available to help you use this Help:
The MID logo is in the help's header on the left-hand side with a link to the help's start page; there is a field for search inquiries on the right.
The search returns hits for all help topics in the TOC, browse sequences and other documents, if applicable. You can find more information about the search below.
Use the navigation frame on the left-hand side to access the following help contents:
Contents
TOC as expandable tree structure. The icon of a (closed or opened) book depicts chapters which contain help topics. The chapters themselves normally contain a help topic. Help topics with no subordinate help topics have a page icon.
Glossary
The technical and business glossary lists terminology included in the Innovator interface, as well as the modeling methods implemented, using conceptual, realistic definitions. This is done to ensure the technical terms are used correctly and are understood.
Browse Sequences
Browse sequences show special topics in separate tree structures.
Hide Navigation
Hides the navigation frame.
Show Navigation
Shows the navigation frame.
The top-most toolbar contains the following functions:
Print Topic
Opens the Print dialog so you can send the current topic to the printer.
Show All
All text sections which can be expanded are shown. The browser search corresponds to the whole text.
Hide All
All text sections which can be expanded are hidden.
Remove Highlighting
All colored highlighting automatically applied to the search term is removed.
(Highlighting currently only works for search terms without umlaut.)
Previous Topic
Opens the previous topic in the order it appears in the Help. First, the current topic is searched for in the browse sequence and then the previous topic is navigated to from there. If it does not exist in a browse sequence then the current topic is searched for in the table of contents and the previous topic is opened from there.
Next Topic
Opens the next topic in the order it appears in the Help. First, the current topic is searched for in the browse sequence and then the next topic is navigated to from there. If it does not exist in a browse sequence then the current topic is searched for in the table of contents and the next topic is opened there.
The glossary explains important terms when working with Innovator.
The browse sequences contain certain topics. Browse sequences are there to show a topic independently from or instead of the table of contents.
The search also searches through topics which only appear in the browse sequences. You will be able to recognize a topic that does not appear in the table of contents as it will not be highlighted there at the same time.
When carrying out a search in the Help, please note:
Help is formatted according to the usual conventions. A few display variants are explained below.
Terms for interface elements are shown in bold. This affects e.g. window areas, fields, buttons and menu commands.
The names of files and directories are shown in non-proportional font.
"User entries" are placed in inverted commas.
[Keys], including in shortcuts, are placed in square brackets.
Very important information is emphasized with a gray frame and type-dependent icons.
| Icon | Note type | Description |
|---|---|---|
|
Note |
A note indicates passages requiring extra attention. Not following these passages hinders the work process but does not lead to excessive additional costs or loss of data (e.g. a missing login). |
|
Attention |
The Attention note type indicates passages that must be complied with. Failure to do so can lead to significant additional costs or even to loss of data. |
|
Tip |
The Tip note type indicates passages which explain options for simplifying the work process. |
|
Constraint |
The Constraint note type indicates passages that refer to a restriction in scope. Disregarding these passages leads to false expectations. |
A specific procedure is usually described with instructions. If requirements are specified or the context of the procedure needs special explanation, these are placed before the instructions.
Instructions are introduced using the How to proceed default text.
The order of the individual instructions is specified by numbering.
Alternative instructions are indicated with capital letters.
