Inserting Elements in Flows

For certain connections, e.g. sequence flows, it is possible to drag elements along the connection and drop them directly where you want them.

Prerequisites

Flow which elements can be directly inserted on.

Context

Elements (e.g. gateways) can be directly inserted on certain connections (e.g. sequence flows). The element is inserted behind the existing connection. A new connection is created between the inserted element and the target element.

If you want to move an existing connection between the inserted element and the target element, you need to move the element next to the existing connection and reconnect it with the source element. The existing connection then needs to be linked to the inserted element.

How to proceed

  1. Drag an element from the Create Diagram Content gallery using the left mouse button and drop it where you want it on the connection.

    The connection is highlighted.

  2. Release the left mouse button.

The element is inserted behind the existing connection.A new connection is inserted between the inserted element and the target element.
