Selecting an Element from Known Names
Select an element using its name.
Prerequisites
You know the name of the element you want to select.
Context
You can limit the selection using the search field. You have the following options when entering a name pattern:
- Letters are interpreted as name components (*pattern*)
- The pattern is interpreted as the start of the word if the pattern ends with an asterisk (pattern*)
- The pattern is interpreted as the end of the word if the pattern starts with an asterisk (*pattern)
How to proceed
-
If you know the type of the element you are looking for, then you can make the selection clearer by selecting an element type or a stereotype from the drop-down list below the tree.
-
You can enter the first few letters of the name in the search field.
The element you are looking for appears in the visible area.
-
If lots of elements are shown, scroll down until you find the element you are looking for.
-
If you are still unsure as to whether you have the right element, jump to the context menu in the tree view. The selected element is then shown in the hierarchy and you can identify it by its surrounding elements.
-
Select the element you want
-
Confirm your selection with OK.
The element selected is adopted.
