Tool and Document Windows
The docking manager manages tool and document windows.
Docking Manager
The model content is shown in various windows managed by a docking manager; the docking manager enables any window layout. Tool and document windows are differentiated between.
Tool Window
Each model has precisely one instance of a tool window. The Properties window is an example of this; it shows the properties of the selected elements.
Tool windows are created upon model generation and contain no information when the model is closed. If a tool window is closed, it is only hidden and not deleted. It can normally by shown again with the View>Windows>Tool Windows submenu.
Document Windows
You can create any number of document windows. Examples of document windows are diagrams and preview windows for documentation.
A document window can be created and shown at any time in a model. It contains no information when the window is closed.
Document windows can only be shown in the document area.
Note: The View>Document Views>Full Screen menu command shows the documents area in full screen mode. Tool windows are hidden und the menu ribbon is minimized.
