Overview and Introduction into Working with the Innovator
You can find an introduction into working with Innovator and extensive information about functions and special topics here.
The modeling software, Innovator, supports business process modeling, object-oriented software analysis and object-oriented design, as well as relational data modeling. Business process, requirements, software system and data models can be created, modified and linked together in Innovator. All editors necessary for this are integrated and available within the application.
The program needs to be installed correctly and have a valid license so that Innovator can be used.
The Innovator model editor interface uses the most up-to-date techniques in Microsoft's Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). It is structured similarly to the current Microsoft Office interface.
A model is an abstraction of the real world, i.e. a simple map of reality. A model is made up of elements and their relationships.
A diagram represents certain aspects of a model. Diagrams are made up of nodes and edges; their form and meaning are defined by the respective notation.
Each specification describes a certain aspect of a model element in the respective text definition, e.g. description or open points. Model elements can also have comments and annotations; these are designed to add more information to the element. You can also select text passages in running text in the Element from Text tool window and mark them as BPMN element types to then use them in a process.
Various roles can be defined so that the respective user can be assigned various authorizations, enabling the user to carry out their task in the team using appropriate functions and model views.
Every user in single sign-on models can use the notification service so that they are sent e-mails with notifications about changes to the model.
You can choose whether you would like to receive notifications about the entire model, package content and individual model elements. The user can decide whether the notification should be sent straight away, daily, weekly or monthly.
A notification is sent when the element itself or an element in its (transitive) content was changed.
